My Dads a Policeman by Robert Druce
Robert Druces account of his childhood and youth is a wonderfully written and evocative story. Intelligent and highly inquisitive, but with an over-bearing and ambitious father, Robert describes, in extraordinary detail, the hardships of life in the outskirts of London during the war.
Robert Druce was born in 1929 and grew up in south west Essex before and during the Second World War. He had a long and successful career as teacher. In 1972 he moved to Holland and taught at Leiden University until his retirement in 1995. He wrote and published throughout his life, and continued writing after retiring to Suffolk. He died in 2005.
