My Grandpa's Amazing Inventions by Richard Johnson
When Grandpa is invited to take part in The World's Latest and Greatest Inventions Contest, he can't think what to make! A Deep-Sea-Tentaclon? A Multi-Action-Dirtoid Digga? Mechanical Flip-Flappers? Finally he decides. His invention is amazing-ofcourse! But it's what he comes up with next that's best of all!
This was my personal favourite, mainly for the sumptuous illustrations - which glow with rich, deep colours and the fun in them springs out from every pageThe seabed and moon pictures encourages all sorts of discussion - lots of detail and interesting things happening everywhere. * Scholastic : Child Education Plus *

Richard Johnson always wanted to be an illustrator. Now, he has a host of children's titles to his name and has won the Silver Award for Children's Book Illustrators from the Association of Illustrators. This is the first title he has written as well as illustrated himself. Richard remembers his science teacher telling him that the world's best-ever invention was language and the ability to communicate, but he thinks the humble pencil rates pretty highly too! Not to mention a nice cup of tea with some fancy chocolates... Richard lives in Lincolnshire.
