In commemoration of the tenth anniversary of September 11, Mychal's Prayer is a small devotional guidebook honoring the spirituality of Father Mychal Judge, the saint of 9/11. Author Salvatore Sapienza worked alongside Father Mychal in the formation of Saint Francis AIDS Ministry in New York City.Former Catholic priest Salvatore Sapienza is the author of Seventy Times Seven, which was nominated for two Lambda Literary Awards, including Best Spirituality. During his years as a religious, Sapienza assisted Father Mychal Judge in the establishment of St. Francis AIDS Ministries was one of the country's first Catholic AIDS organizations. In the anthology Gay and Catholic, Sapienza writes about his friendship with Father Judge, The Saint of 9/11. Sapienza's writing has appeared in publications such as The Gay and Lesbian Times, Ashe Journal, and The Holland Sentinel.
He's given talks at a variety of schools, retreat places, and bookstores across the country, as well as on Public Television and National Public Radio.
