
Fr. John Behr is the Dean of St Vladimir's Seminary and Professor of Patristics, where he teaches patristics, dogmatics, and scriptural interpretation as well as being a Distinguished Lecturer in Patristics at Fordham University. He also holds the Metropolitan Kallistos Chair in Orthodox Theology at Amsterdam's Vrije Universiteit. His early research focused on asceticism and anthropology, with particular attention paid to St Irenaeus of Lyons and Clement of Alexandria. Fr John began publishing a series on the Development of Christian Theology in the fifth and sixth centuries, after spending about a decade in the second century. He recently finished an edition and translation of Diodore of Tarsus's and Theodore of Mopsuestia's remaining texts, as well as an introduction to them. He's also written a comprehensive overview of early Christian theology, focusing on the mystery of Christ.
