In 1829 Benjamin Morrell (1795-1839) departed America for a voyage to the Pacific as captain of the Antarctic. His wife, Abby Jane Morrell (b. 1809), insisted on accompanying him. First published in 1833, this is her account of the voyage, ghostwritten by the author Samuel Knapp (1783-1838).
Morrell, Abby Jane: - Abby Jane Morrell was born in New York in 1809. She insisted on accompanying her husband on a sealing voyage that was to last three years. However, after their son was born in 1831, she remained at home.
