Neurology for the Non-Neurologist by Steven L Lewis
Neurology for the Non-Neurologist has been an indispensable resource for primary care clinicians for four decades. In this fully revised and updated 7th edition, editors Dr. Steven L. Lewis and Dr. Aaron L. Berkowitz have reimagined this classic text, collaborating with an entirely new team of expert contributing authors to provide a practical approach to the evaluation of patients with neurologic symptoms and a comprehensive up-to-date guide to the diagnosis and treatment of common neurologic diseases encountered in the outpatient clinic and in the hospital.- Introductory chapters by the editors provide a practical approach to neurologic diagnosis, including the neurologic history, neurologic examination, and the interpretation of neurodiagnostic tests such as CT, MRI, electroencephalography (EEG), nerve conduction studies/electromyography (NCS/EMG), and cerebrospinal fluid analysis
- Ten chapters describe a practical clinical approach to commonly encountered neurologic symptoms such as headache, dizziness, cognitive changes, sensory symptoms, weakness, visual changes, abnormal movements, abnormal gait, and altered level of consciousness
- Thirteen chapters provide a comprehensive and up-to-date discussion of the diagnosis and treatment of all commonly encountered neurologic conditions including migraine and other headache disorders, stroke, seizures and epilepsy, Alzheimer disease and other causes of dementia, Parkinson disease and other movement disorders, multiple sclerosis, meningitis and other neurologic infections, peripheral neuropathy, ALS, myasthenia gravis, muscle diseases, sleep disorders, head trauma, and common conditions of the spine, spinal cord, and nerve roots
- Three chapters cover the diagnosis and treatment of neurologic disorders in pregnancy, neurologic complications of cancer and cancer treatments, and the neurologic manifestations of systemic conditions
- Editors’ Key Points at the end of every chapter summarize and highlight the most important clinical pearls on each topic
