Notes on Directing by Frank Hauser

Based on the notes of director Frank Hauser, who had a distinguished career working alongside figures including Ian McKellen and Richard Burton. His notes, expanded and enhanced by his student Russell Reich, offer a succinct insight into the craft of directing and acting.
'This delightful little book is full of such miniature nuggets - always practical, often provocative and usually witty' The Stage (March 2010) 'a must-have' Whatsonstagecom 'Witty, perceptive, accessible observations and advice from great directors' The Stage (March 2011)
Frank Hauser, now deceased, formed the Meadow Players at Oxford University in 1956 and served as director of productions at the Oxford Playhouse for seventeen years during which many of his productions were seen in London and New York. Russell Reich is a creative director and lives in New York. He served as visiting artist in residence at Harvard University and artistic associate at the Circle Repertory Company in New York where he was a member of the Circle Rep Directors Lab
