A final chapter suggests possible changes in the near or more distant future.

The book achieves its purpose convincingly, to provide an overall survey of the nuclear industry understandable to readers with some background in science. Emphasis is on the industry as it exists in Great Britain, but enough material is included about the history of the subject and about activities elsewhere to give a balanced picture of the industry on a worldwide basis. The authors have provided us with a readable and most interesting account of one important means of helping to satisfy the world's present and future energy needs.
