NUMBER TEAM & THE GREAT RACE by Hewitt Sally
Adventures in Numeracy to guide children through each stage of maths knowledge, from identifying numbers to more complicated mathematical skills. Fun With Maths is the second stage of the Adventures in Numeracy project. Following on from the Start Maths series, each Number Team book uses a fun storyline to help children gain expertise in basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Note: it is not necessary to have used the Start Maths series before using Fun With Maths, as each part of Adventures in Numeracy is designed to stand alone to teach particular numeracy skills. Each book invites children to learn along with The Number Team, a group of animals which encounters mathematical dilemmas as they go about their activities. The engaging storyline of each book is the key to getting children to continue to work through the books. Created with numeracy advisor Norma Penny to follow closely the National Numeracy Strategy for use both at school and to reinforce school learning in the home. Each book contains a games and activities page. A 'Parents and Teachers' page gives advice on how to use the books in the best way either at home or at school.
