One-Dimensional Man by Herbert Marcuse

Originally published in 1964, One-Dimensional Man quickly became one of the most important texts in the ensuing decade of radical political change. This second edition, newly introduced by Marcuse scholar Douglas Kellner, presents Marcuse's best-selling work to another generation of readers in the context of contemporary events.

Herbert Marcuse was a philosopher, sociologist, and political theorist who lived from 1898 to 1979. He was a key member in the Frankfurt School of social theory, having studied at both the University of Berlin and the University of Freiburg. In the 1930s, he left Germany and moved to the United States, where he spent the rest of his life teaching at some of the country's most prestigious schools and institutions. He is the author of many publications, including One-Dimensional Man, Eros and Civilization, and others.
