One Way Pendulum by N F Simpson

Each of the Groomkirbys has an idee fixe. Kirby is teaching his speak-your-weight machines the Hallelujah Chorus; his mother pays the neighbour to eat their left-overs; his aunt in her wheelchair is convinced she's touring the Hebrides; his father is building the Old Bailey in the living-room. When this is complete the judge and jury move in with some bizarre results.4 women, 10 men

N.F. Simpson was a renowned exponent of absurdist theatre, and is best known for his piece A Resounding Tinkle, which premiered at the Royal Court in 1957 and later starred Peter Cook. He was a significant figure in the 1960s satire boom, writing outstanding comedy for John Cleese, Beryl Reid, Hattie Jacques, and Eric Sykes, as well as a number of tremendously amusing pieces for the stage starring Harold Pinter and Kenneth Williams. From Peter Cook to Monty Python, his influence spawned a generation of tremendous comic talent.
