RONNIE BARKER, one of the best entertainers of his time, was known for his roles in classic shows such as Open All Hours, Porridge, and The Frost Report. Ronnie Barker, who was born in Bedford in 1929, began writing and performing in radio shows such as The Navy Lark. While working on The Frost Report, Barker met his comedic partner Ronnie Corbett. According to legend, they were hired by the BBC after impressing producers by filling in after a technical glitch during the BAFTA awards. Barker went on to star in the iconic sitcoms Open All Hours and Porridge as a superb character actor and comedy writer.
