Pennies from Heaven by Dennis Potter

Based on the events that led Koedi Gracie Nealy to her life-long passion for spreading the Gospel of Jesus, Pennies from Heaven teaches children that they are never too young to do great things for God. The idea of helping the overlooked and undervalued in our communities and changing lives one penny at a time came to Koedi at the age of seven. In 2015, her journey culminated in the non-profit Graced Ministry that currently ministers to the homeless population in Houston, Texas. Dennis Potter was an English television dramatist, screenwriter, and journalist who lived from 17 May 1935 to 7 June 1994. He rose to prominence with The Singing Detective (1986), a BBC TV serial for which he is most renowned, beginning with contributions to BBC television's The Wednesday Play anthology series in 1965. This and many of his previous critically praised television plays combined imagination and reality, the personal and the social, and frequently exploited pop culture themes and images. Steven Bochco, Alan Ball, Andrew Davies, Charlie Kaufman, Peter Bowker, Margaret Edson, and Alain Resnais were all influenced by Harry Potter. Several critical essays, books, websites, and documentaries have been written about his work.

In December 2004, BBC Four commemorated the tenth anniversary of Potter's death with a significant series of documentaries about his life and work, as well as screenings of Pennies from Heaven and The Singing Detective, as well as numerous of his plays. His impact has spread to popular music, with artists like Manic Street Preachers, Franz Ferdinand, and Elbow citing him as an inspiration.
