Pennsylvania Railroad by William B Sipes

First published in 1875. A detailed history of the Pennsylvania Railroad, its construction, management, and the various lines and their stations, starting with the first experimental track laid down in 1809 in Delaware County and continuing as the railroad expanded westward across the state.

William B. Sipes (1831–1905) was a newspaper editor, lawyer, and journalist who served in the Pennsylvania Infantry during the Civil War as a captain and colonel before resigning in 1864. He was editor of the Pottsville Register and author of The Seventh Pennsylvania Veteran Volunteer Cavalry: Its Record, Reminiscences, and Roster, published in 1905.
