Pickle and Lily by Annie Stewart

This engaging new children's book Pickle and Lily centres on a loveable black and white cat called Pickle (based on the author's own cat) and how he learns to cope with a new addition to his household, `an energetic ball of brown and black fur' known as Lily, a Welsh Terrier puppy. Pickle gets caught up in all sorts of adventures with a whole cast of characters including his arch enemy, Rufus, a fierce Tabby cat, two friendly Airedale Terriers and, oh yes, a giant rabbit! The stories are full of humour for children and adults alike and have some good messages for young readers. They have an old fashioned, heart-warming feel to them and will appeal to animal lovers of all ages, making them a popular choice for bedtime reading.
Annie Stewart was born in Bushey, Hertfordshire and attended private school until she was 18 years-old. She was keen to get into the arts in some way, so after a brief spell at Foyles in the Charing Cross store, Annie went to Pitmans Secretarial College and got into Sotherby's as a secretary. After working there for many happy years she moved to Suffolk with her then-husband and two children. When her children left home, Annie started writing seriously and published her first book, which is when she met her second-husband, Philip at a Waterstones book signing. Annie and Philip now live in Cheltenham with their two cats and they are both passionate about reading and writing for children. Annie runs creative workshops in schools called `Drawing with Words' and also works in a local special needs school.
