This work tells the story of Christian and his unique spiritual pilgrimage from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City. On his journey he experiences joy, struggle, temptation and danger during his encounters with Talkative, Giant Despair, Pliable, Evangelist and Ignorance.
John Bunyan (1628 - 88) started work as a tinker but later became a preacher. As a Puritan , he was arrested for holding open-air 'non-conformist' worship services and spent twelve years in Bedford jail. It was there that PILGRIM'S PROGRESS, among other works, was written.
