A Plump and Perky Turkey by Teresa Bateman

When the people of Squawk Valley find themselves without a turkey for their Thanksgiving feast, they plot a way to lure one into town: They'll advertise for a model turkey to pose during an arts-and-crafts fair, and gobble the bird when they've finished the artwork. But they don't plan on meeting up with Pete--a turkey so clever, he outsmarts them all

Teresa Bateman was born in Moscow, Idaho, but relocated to Washington State with her family when she was three years old, and has lived there ever since. Teresa, a voracious reader and writer, has been making up stories and poetry since she was in elementary school. Teresa describes it as as natural as breathing to her. Teresa used to drive her teachers crazy by 'creatively' completing projects in high school. She always followed their instructions to the letter, if not the spirit.

Knowing that the teachers would be reviewing hundreds of papers and wanting her to stand out, she worked hard to incorporate some comedy into her work. Teresa studied English classes in college for fun, and when she filed for a Washington State Teaching certificate, the state examined her transcripts and added an endorsement to teach English through the 12th grade! He published a class magazine in which students submitted material under pseudonyms. Their grades were determined by the number of tales published in the magazine.

Teresa submitted under a total of 15 different pen names simply to annoy you! Hunter encouraged Teresa's journaling and established in her strong writing skills, which she still does today. Teresa served an 18-month church mission in Argentina and taught school in Honduras for a year. She also taught school in St. Louis for a short time.

Mary's, Alaska is a small bush village with a winter population of 500 people and a summer population of 50. She is the librarian at Brigadoon Elementary School in Tacoma, Washington, at the moment. Teresa writes on a daily basis. Without a doubt.

She also works full-time, which means she doesn't write as much on some days, but she always writes. Teresa's favorite writing area at home offers a great view of the lilac bushes outside. Her computer's background features a winding path across pleasant rolling hills and meadows. When she's stuck for an idea, she tells herself that the story is at the end of that trail.

Teresa also writes when she's not at home, and she travels with a laptop computer. She balances her E-mate on her knees and sits out on the deck on a family trip to the Oregon coast, watching seagulls whirl and wail overhead and the surf waves pound the cliff's bottom. Teresa is a resident of Tacoma, Washington.
