Patricia Lysaght is a native of Co. Clare. Her academic background is in Law as well as in Irish Language and Literature and Irish Folklore. In 1971, on completion of her studies in Law at University College Dublin and the King’s Inns, Dublin she was called to the Irish Bar. She now lecturers at the Department of Irish Folklore, University College Dublin. Dr Lysaght has written and spoken widely on the subject of the banshee.
