Clayton, Ann: - Ann Clayton was born in Sunderland during the Second World War, and was brought up in the West Riding of Yorkshire. She read Modern History and Politics as an undergraduate at the University of Keele, and took her Master's degree at the Leeds University in Economic History. She is a teacher, and has held posts at both secondary and higher education level. Ann Clayton's first book, a biography of Noel Chavasse, VC & Bar, MC, was published to much acclaim in 1992.
