Practical Feldenkrais for Dynamic Health by Steven Shafarman

The first easy to understand introduction to the Feldenkrais method. The Feldenkrais Method – a physical therapy, similar to the Alexander Technique – has a growing reputation for fundamentally improving painful conditions such as back pain and arthritis by rebalancing the body through simple exercises. Using what Dr Moshe Feldenkrais called `Awareness through Movement’, people of any age or condition can learn to move more comfortably and effectively as his method reawaken the natural process by which we as babies learned to crawl, walk and talk. Steven Shafarman clearly lays out six series of gentle exercises which are not strenuous, and which can be done anywhere. The exercises detail six basic lessons which help you to become more aware of how you breathe, sit, walk and otherwise move by sensing the natural way to perform these actions, you grow more skilful and supple in all your movements. Practical Feldenkrais also explains how Moshe Feldenkrais developed his method and what its success implies for the future of our health.

Steven Shafarman studied with Dr Moshe Feldenkrais between 1976 and 1984 to become a certified Feldenkrais practitioner. He lives in the US and teaches and lectures internationally.
