Ferri's Guide has long been an indispensable manual for 3rd and 4th year medical students to use during their clinical rotations. It is used increasingly by 1st and 2nd year students as well in programs where students begin clinical work early. It is a general manual of internal medicine with a particular emphasis on differential diagnosis. There is less information in this book on pathophysiology than in the Wash U Manual, but there is more emphasis on practical clinical information. Tables are used throughout to summarize important material.Dr. Ferri has responded to reviews by medical students to make the book more useful. This edition will include expanded material on Differential Diagnosis, with an additional 78 clinical topics. There is a new section on diagnostic imaging of the medical patient and an expanded section on dermatology.
