Full colour facsimile reprint of the original First World War, War Office war diary of the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) 1st and 5th Battalions and 19 Field Ambulance, 19 Infantry Brigade, 2nd Division, covering July 1914 to December 1915 across 552 pages. It names 297 places across 560 dated entries. Alongside the daily entries the volume carries two reports, narratives and plans, twelve Operation Orders and five appendices. Among the papers are: Operation order No; Provisional order Dealing with a Possible Deliberate Withdrawal from Present Position. The diary opens at Estaires on 23 July 1914. 1914 is spent at Armentieres, Septmonts, Trenches La Boutillerie, Bac St Maur and Houteresus. 1915 is the most travelled year, 470 places against 81 in the next busiest, and is spent at Weather, Erquinghem-Lys, Trenches near Bois Grenier, Armentieres and Billets Near Bois Grenier. It closes at Weather on 30 December 1915. Weather is where it spent longest, 186 days across 82 separate stays and the longest it stayed anywhere without moving was 31 days at Armentieres. Trench and battlefield features named in the diary include Trenches near Bois Grenier, Trenches La Boutillerie, Trenches-Pont Ballot, Trenches W. Frohincham, Trenches Rue Du Bois, Trenches Cuinchy Section A, La Vese Trenches, Trenches near Cambrin Z.z.
