Promoting Independent Learning in the Primary Classroom by Jill Williams
Most children arrive at school with the notion that being independent and having the desire to take responsibility has been seen, in their homes, as a good thing. This book argues that independence in the classroom should be seen as beneficial for learners and also for teachers.
Jill Williams has been headteacher of three schools. She is currently working as a senior lecturer at Bath Spa University College. She has responsibility for organizing and teaching courses for undergraduates, postgraduates, and for teachers following Masters programmes. She travels widely and uses her observations of children from other cultures to support her wide interest in educational issues.
