Dr. Christopher Cheng has worked in academic research and the medical device sector for over 20 years. His academic work has centered on hemodynamics and vascular structural mechanics, with a particular focus on illness studies and medical device interactions with the body. He has approximately 80 articles in journals, conferences, and book chapters to his credit. Dr. Cheng has worked in the medical device sector for both small and large companies, with experience in design, manufacturing, preclinical testing, clinical trials, and marketing. Dr. Cheng is currently the CEO of Koli, Inc., an early-stage medical device firm developing a catheter-based gallstone disease treatment.
Dr. Cheng is also an Adjunct Professor at Stanford University's Division of Vascular Surgery, where he directs the Vascular Intervention Biomechanics and Engineering (VIBE) lab. Dr. Cheng graduated from Duke University with a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering and a master's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. He subsequently went on to get his Master's and Ph.D. degrees. Stanford University offers Biomechanics degrees.
