Re-Visions by Meredith Sue Willis
Re-visions: Stories from Stories is a collection of spin-offs from myth, fiction, and the Bible. From a new look at Adam and Eve and why they left the Garden to a grown-up Topsy from Uncle Tom's Cabin to the confessions of Saint Augustine's concubine- each story offers a gloss on the original as well as insights into how we can live today.Meredith Sue Willis grew up in West Virginia and spent two years at Bucknell University before volunteering for a year with Volunteers in Service to America. She went on to Barnard College and Columbia University in New York City to earn her degrees. Charles Scribner's Sons, HarperCollins, West Virginia University Press, Mercury House, Ohio University Press, and other publishers have published her fiction. The New York Times Book Review lauded her collection of literary short tales, In the Mountains of America, as an important lesson on the nature and role of literature. Out of the Mountains, published by Ohio University Press, and Re-Visions, published by Hamilton Stone Editions, are two collections of short tales; Ten Techniques to Write a Novel, published by Montemayor Press; and Meli's Way, a young adult novel published by Montemayor.
She presently works as an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at New York University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies in New Jersey, just a short train trip from New York City. She is a visiting writer in the schools in New York and New Jersey on occasion, maintains a four-season organic garden, and participates in local racial integration politics.
