Real Hay-on-Wye by Kate Noakes

Famously the 'town of books' and home to the Hay Literature Festival, Hay-on-Wye is a unique rural town in Wales, UK. Noakes uncovers the many quirks of this quirky place and explores its rural hinterland: the Black Mountains to the south, Herefordshire to the east, Brecon to the west, and Kilvert's Clyro to the north. A book full of unexpected discoveries.
Kate Noakes has previously published six collections of poetry. She was elected to the Welsh Academy of Letters in 2011 and her website (boomslangpoetry.blogspot.com) is archived by the National Library of Wales. She suffers from itchy feet and has lived in Australia, California, South Africa and France, but has spent most of her life in the South East of England. She has finally settled in London. Educated at the Universities of Reading and South Wales, her poetry mentors have been Gilliane Clark, Tony Curtis, Philip Gross, and Mimi Khalvati.
