
Ricky's Rat Gang by Anthony Masters
Spilt sugar in the supermarket storeroom means a sticky feast for Mel, Max and Molly Mouse. But their arch enemies, the gangsters Ricky and Ronnie Rat, want in on the action. But the mice devise a daring plan to lead the nightwatchman's dog to the rats. It's the mice's first victory in their long-standing battle with the rats.
Anthony Masters was a successful novelist and children's book writer with many titles to his credit. His first novel, The Seahorse, won the John Lewellyn Rhys Memorial Prize in 1967. His many books for children included Bullies Don't Hurt (Viking/Puffin), Wicked (Orchard) and Ghost Blades (Mammoth) which were selected by The Book Trust for their 100 Best Books 1998 edition. Chris Fisher is a favourite illustrator of children's books. His titles include Nonsense Nursery Rhymes, which won the Gold Award in the Play and Learn Awards and Snowdragon, which was nominated for the Kate Greenaway Award. Hammy House of Horror, illustrated by Chris, was highly commended in the Sheffield Children's Book Award. Chris Fisher lives in Bristol.
