The River at Wolf by Jean Valentine
Jean Valentine has written a visionary book. If it is built with the brick and wood of this world, the light that pours through its windows is searing, healing.--Marie Howe
JEAN VALENTINE's first book, Dream Barker, earned the Yale Younger Poets Prize in 1965. She has taught at Sarah Lawrence College, the Graduate Writing Program at NYU, and the 92nd Street Y, and is the author of seven previous books of poetry, most notably Growing Darkness, Growing Light (1997) and The River at Wolf (1992). Valentine received the Shelley Memorial Prize from the Poetry Society of America in 2000, as well as the Academy of Letters' Morton Dauwen Zabel Award for a progressive, innovative, and experimental writer in 2006.
