Inside the Actors Studio, which has been watched in 89 million households in the United States and 125 countries and has won fourteen Emmy nominations, was created, executive produced, written, and hosted by James Lipton. He wrote the novel Mirrors, which he adapted and produced for the film, and the American literary classic An Exaltation of Larks, as well as the book and lyrics for two Broadway musicals. He was a vice president of the Actors Studio and the founder and dean emeritus of Pace University's Actors Studio Theatre School. He got three honorary doctorates, France's Chevalier de l'Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' Lifetime Achievement Emmy.
