Alison McBain is passionate about diversity. With dual Canadian-American citizenship, citizenship, a mother who is Japanese-American, and a B.A. She has an eclectic background and a wide range of experience in African history and classical literature. She was born and raised in California before relocating to the East Coast in her twenties.
She currently resides in Connecticut with her three daughters and spouse. Her writing career began when she was four years old, when she self-published a horror story about the monster in the closet. Her immediate family was ecstatic with the story. She's won a slew of writing honors and accolades since then, from individuals who aren't even remotely related to her, but she still has a soft spot for her first short tale.
Her fascination in variety extends to literature as well. Her stories and poetry, which have appeared in over seventy journals, range in tone from serious to humorous. Literary, romance, horror, science fiction, fantasy, history, and adventure are just a few of the genres they cover. When she's not creating fiction, she lives by the credo Do something creative every day.
She works for the magazine Bewildering Tales as the Book Reviews Editor. On her website, http://www.alisonmcbain.com/, she also blogs about local happenings, displays her artwork, and conducts author interviews. She conducts origami meditation or doodles all over the walls of her house with the enthusiastic help of her kids when life gets a little too chaotic.
