
Rosebuds by Margaret Mayhew
A novel of lifelong friendship, in the tradition of Rosamunde PilcherFlora and Tally first meet as schoolgirls in 1947. Theirs is an unlikely friendship, born of the fact that both girls are outsiders. Flora's mother is a war widow, struggling to make ends meet, whilst Tally is really rich but lonely Lady Atalanta Ashby. On leaving school the two girls share a flat in London, and their friendship is cemented during exhilarating years of independence and self-discovery.
Margaret Mayhew was born in London and remembers the Blitz from her childhood. In her mid-thirties, she began writing and had her first book published in 1976. She resides in Gloucestershire with her husband, American aviation author Philip Kaplan.
