Runners by Ann Kelley

As mankind strives to rebuild society in the wake of climate change, over-population and global food shortages, every day is a struggle for people like Sid and his younger sister Lo.

Tough, tense and moving.. Runners dramatises a society with its back to the wall, which has shucked off any pretence of caring for the weak and vulnerable. It’s a disturbing and compulsive read that makes you realise that not so very much needs to change for this to happen here.HELEN DUNMORE

Kelley... creates very vivid and engaging young chararcters. KATE SAUNDERS, THE TIMES

ANN KELLEY is a photographer and prize-winning poet who has previously published a collection of poetry and photographs, a book of St Ives family portraits, a series of novels (including one which was the recipient of the Costa Children’s Book Award 2007), and an audio book. She lives on a cliff in Cornwall with her cats and second husband, where they have survived a flood, a landslip, a lightning strike, and the roof blowing off. She runs courses for aspiring poets from her home.
