The Samurai by Blake Hoena

The Samurai by Blake Hoena

Samurai warriors are often thought of as stoic loners who wandered the land helping poor villagers fight against their oppressors. However, although a few Samurai worked alone, most of them considered it dishonourable. These highly-skilled warriors usually served a noble lord, and they fought fiercely to protect their master's lands. Dynamic illustrations and fascinating tales of famous Samurai teach readers what life was like as a noble servant-warrior in feudal Japan.

Blake A. Hoena grew up in central Wisconsin, where he wrote stories about robots conquering the moon and trolls lumbering around the woods behind his parents house. He now lives in Minnesota and enjoys writing about fun things like history, space aliens, and superheroes. Blake has written more than fifty chapter books and dozens of graphic novels for children. János Orbán grew up in Budapest, Hungary, where his love of art began at an early age. After graduating from an art high school, he went on to earn a degree from the Hungarian University of Fine Arts. With a passion for illustration, Orbán most enjoys designing characters and creating artwork for children’s books. He has two daughters and a son, and currently lives and works with his family in a village near Budapest.
