Scenes of Everyday Life by Christopher Brown

The Royal Cabinet of Paintings Mauritshuis in The Hague is, after the Rijksmuseum, the most important collection of Dutch 17th century paintings in The Netherlands, known throughout the world for masterpieces which include Rembrandt's Anatomy Lesson of Dr Tulp and Vermeer's View of Delft. The collection is housed in one of the finest classical buildings in the country which was built as a town palace for Johan Maurits, Count of Nassau-Siegen and takes its name from its first owner. The Mauritshuis's collection represents all the varied types of painting made during the Golden Age, portraiture, still life, marines, landscapes, topographical views, church interiors and genre paintings. The Mauritshuis is pleased to present this small but choice selection of its holdings in recognition of the longstanding excellent relations with British museums in general.
