The first part of this book covers the general theory of structural dynamics, in a calculous format as well as a finite element formulation. The general theory contains comprehensive development of the principle of virtual displacements, as well as the Galerkin solution to eigenvalue problems. A separate chapter has been dedicated to the suspension bridge. The theory of single or multiple tuned mass dampers is included, a theory not presented elsewhere.
