Scream If You Wanna Go Faster by Peter Morris

Hold on tight for a thrilling ride through the history of fairgrounds!

Step right up for an all-access pass to the past, present and pulse-pounding mechanics of the fairground! This fascinating book uncovers the rich history of theme parks, from medieval charter fairs and Victorian steam-powered rides to the wild days of Coney Island and the opening of Disneyland.

Meet the inventors who used physics to create heart-stopping thrills and discover the science behind the rides, including how steam engines work and why rollercoasters don’t need engines to soar.

With clear explanations brought to life in Roozeboos’ energetic illustrations, every page captures all the fun of the fair. This is the perfect gift for budding historians, scientists and thrill-seekers alike.
Peter Morris studied Mechanical Engineering and worked as a high school science teacher in Australia and later in the UK. He is passionate about STEAM subjects for children and is a great lover of theme parks. His favourite is Luna Park, Melbourne!

Roozeboos, also known as Anne Roos Kleiss, is a Rotterdam-based illustrator who graduated from the Cambridge School of Art MA in Children’s Book Illustration in 2020. She brings a child-like curiosity to her playful, detail-packed illustrations. She has illustrated books for publishers including Blossom Books, Scholastic, Groundwood Books and Pelckmans.
