Seven Laws of Teaching by John Milton Gregory
Many of the earliest books, particularly those dating back to the 1900s and before, are now extremely scarce and increasingly expensive. We are republishing these classic works in affordable, high quality, modern editions, using the original text and artwork. From 1864 to 1867, John Milton Gregory (1822-1898) served as the second president of Kalamazoo College. Following that, from the university's foundation in 1867 until his departure in 1880, he served as the first president of the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. While Gregory attributed Jonathan Baldwin Turner with being the driving force behind the university's founding, Gregory also played a role in determining the university's path by lobbying for a classically-based liberal arts curriculum in addition to the industrial and agricultural curriculum demanded by the Illinois Industrial League.
