North West Africa, a region riven by conflict and poverty, it's people living with instability, destitution and disease every day of their uncertain lives.
One organisation however has worked in the region for the past 30 years, come what may. It's an organisation that's committed to helping children in need. Children who have lost their families, their homes, their very security. It's name is SOS Children's Villages.
SOS Children's Villages have pioneered a family approach to child welfare, based on the principle that each child needs a mother and grows up naturally with brothers and sisters in their own home within a supportive village community.
These are vulnerable children. Most have no surviving biological families. Many have witnessed horrors, and some have been abused or simply ignored. Healing their wounds and helping them to trust others takes time and patience and a lot of love.
This documentary film tells the story of the work of SOS Children's Villages in the North West Africa region. The film also tells the stories of some of the children and adults whose lives have been changed by their experience of trauma and by their association with SOS Children's Villages.
