Shadows of My Father by Colleen Keller Breuning
Life, laughter, learning, love, loss . This is the lingering legacy of a beloved father painted over time in poetry, through the eyes of a daughter. His untimely death casts a long shadow as she strives to move through the intense grief and carry on with life. She sees him every single day in the crimson sunset skies, in the blue jay foraging for food, in the tumbling breakers of the sea. This debut collection of Colleen Keller Breuning's poetry is a tribute to the quiet, unconditional love between father and daughter. Shadows of her father are everywhere but he lives on forever, inside of her heart.
Colleen Marie Keller Breuning was born and raised in Hagerstown, Maryland. She has lived in various parts of the country, including Oklahoma and Florida, and she has recently relocated to Northern Virginia. She received her BBA in Human Resource Management from Florida Atlantic University in 1990, and has had a career in the accounting and medical fields. Though she began writing poetry as a child, Colleen returned to writing after her father's death in 2003. She has been published in various print and online publications, and she is the owner and editor of Blue Turtle Crossing E-Zine. Photography is one of Colleen's great passions, and her work has been featured in various publications and websites. Her intense love of nature flows forth in her breath-taking images of sunsets, animals and landscapes. She never travels anywhere without one of her Nikon cameras in hand. In addition to writing poetry and photography, Colleen enjoys music, travel, cooking, red wine, laughter, chocolate, and cats (but not necessarily in that order). She is happily married to her soulmate Dan, and she is blessed with two children and two mischievous cats Tommy and Jordan, who are a constant source of entertainment.
