Social Work Intervention by Trevor Lindsay

Social workers need to have a sound working knowledge of a range of ways of working with the people who use their services. They also need to be able to apply and integrate this knowledge in practice, to critically evaluate different methods and to choose the most effective in any particular set of circumstances. This book provides a hands-on guide to the most common methods of helping social work service users and to dealing with some difficult situations.
"An excellent book that explores the various subject areas comprehensively and succinctly - a real achievement" ( Lecturer, University of Northampton.)
Trevor Lindsay draws on twenty years experience as a practitioner, manager and trainer in the probation service. Since 1995 he has been a lecturer at the University of Ulster, where he has taught a range of social work subjects at both qualifying and post-qualifying levels. He has published research articles on hate crime, groupwork, criminal justice and student learning and is co-author of Groupwork Practice in Social Work in the Transforming Social Work Practice series. Trevor recently retired from teaching but continues to write.
