"Specialist Training in Cardiology" is written for those doctors starting their career in this specialty (or in general internal medicine). The text presents a succinct account of the subject concentrating on diagnostic techniques, treatment and management. Throughout, extensive use is made of radiographs, drawings, lists and tables. The aim is to provide a 'bridge' between introductory undergraduate texts and the very large and expensive major reference works. Henry Purcell MB, PhD, is Senior Fellow in Cardiology at The Royal Brompton Hospital in London. He lectures widely and has published many peer-reviewed research papers and abstracts. He was a member of the British Cardiac Society Working Group producing guidelines on management of patients with acute coronary syndromes without peristent ECG ST segment elevation (2001). He is co-editor of the British Journal of Cardiology and on several editorial boards and has co-edited the text Specialist Training in Cardiology, published by Elsevier/Mosby. He is also a reviewer for many international journals in cardiovascular medicine.
