SS United States by Andrew Britton
This colourful history covers the SS United States active service from 1952 to 1969 when she dominated the seas of Atlantic, sweeping all rivals before her.
ANDREW BRITTON is a retired teacher and a life-long shipping enthusiast and collector with a now vast body of photographs and ephemera. His grandfather was Band Master for White Star Line due to sail on Titanic, but didn't after his grandmother suffered a premonition. One of his uncles was a popular White Star pianist and another an engineer on board the RMS Queen Elizabeth. Andrew is a keen supporter of the SS United States Conservancy and also an avid steam railway enthusiast. He has previously written railway history books, writes for railway magazines and is a part-owner of eight British steam locomotives that operate on heritage railways. Andrew lives in Warwick.
