Stage Directions by Michael Frayn
Covers half a lifetime and the range of Frayn's theatrical writing. This title reflects on his path into theatre: the 'doubtful beginnings' of his childhood, his subsequent scorn as a young man and, surprisingly late in life, his reluctant conversion.
Michael Frayn was born in London in 1933 and began his career as a journalist. His novels include The Trick of It, Towards the End of the Morning and Headlong - shortlisted for the 1999 Booker Prize. He has written thirteen plays and translated a number of works. He is married to biographer and critic Claire Tomalin.
