TOMS Shoes was started by Blake Mycoskie in 2006 with a simple business model: for every pair of shoes purchased, TOMS will donate a pair of new shoes to a child in need. One for the other. TOMS debuted its second One for One product, TOMS Eyewear, in 2011, with each pair sold helping to provide medical care, prescription glasses, or sight-saving surgery to a person in need. Mycoskie plans to donate half of the proceeds from this book to the Start Something That Matters Fund, which will aid motivated readers in their attempts to make a positive difference in the world. Blake spends his free time reading, writing, fly-fishing, and engaging in almost any board sport when he isn't working at TOMS.
