Henrietta Elizabeth Marshall, a prominent author of children's history books a century ago, is suddenly regaining prominence. Our Island Tale, A History of England for Boys and Girls was originally published in 1905, and was immediately followed by Scotland's Story in 1906 and Our Imperial Story in 1908. A History of France, A History of Germany, This Land of Ours, and English Literature for Boys and Girls are among her other works. She also contributed to the critically acclaimed Told to the Children series, writing The Tale of Napoleon and The Story of Cromwell for the Children's Heroes series.
