Taken For A Ride by Neil Roland

Set in the prosperous Manchester suburb of Didsbury, Taken for a Ride combines a rich and deep vein of humour with a rarely explored subject matter - old age. Against the background of a Jewish Old People's Home the novel weaves an intricate path through the web of confusion and intrigue that surrounds the dealings of a local estate agent as he tries to exploit those forced to sell their homes. A beautifully written novel. Original, comic, moving, pacey and perceptive' - Jack Rosenthal 'Precious and rare' - Bernice Rubens'
Neil Roland grew up in the cosmopolitan jewish community of south Manchester. This was a cultured, educated and wealthy community but is destined to disappear before too long. Roland studied law but turned to writing soon after graduation. A freelance writer for The Independent on Sunday and The Sunday Times and a Rough Guide author since 1996. He is also a photographer and regularly exhibits.
