.Dr. Richard Hamilton is the chairman of Drexel University College of Medicine's Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Hamilton has been a member of the College's faculty since 1997. Dr. Hamilton, a native of Philadelphia, earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree at Hahnemann University. He was on active duty as a U.S. Marine after medical school. Navy flight surgeon doing aerospace medicine research.
His emergency medicine residency was done at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, in Bronx, New York. He went on to finish a fellowship in medical toxicology at New York University, where he also worked as a faculty member in the Emergency Department at Bellevue Hospital in New York City. Dr. Hamilton is a captain in the US Naval Reserves and is board qualified in emergency medicine and medical toxicology. He went to Ghana for two weeks in 2003 as part of the Navy's West African Training Cruise Medical Outreach Program.
In 2004, he was called to active duty for a year as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
