Tate Companion to British Art by Richard Humphreys

This handbook celebrates the relaunch of Tate Britain in October 2001. It illustrates over 200 works from the collection including paintings by Hilliard, Van Dyck, Hogarth, Constable, Turner and Rosetti and also contains 20th-century works by Gwen John, Barbara Hepworth, Francis Bacon among other contemporary artists, in an attempt to bring the story up to the present day and testify to the diversity of British art.
Richard Humphreys is Head of Education and Interpretation at Tate Britain. He is the author of Futurism in Tate Publishing's series Movements in Modern Art.
