Tattybogle by Sandra Horn

Tattybogle, the scarecrow, has a head full of straw and cheerful thoughts. One day the playful wind blows too hard and all that is left of Tattybogle is an old stick. But Tattybogle is never sad for long. Shortlisted for the 1995 Smarties Prize and the Kurt Maschler Award., this beautiful story is about new beginnings.

The author: Sandra grew up in Crowborough in East Sussex, amidst downland, small farms and hop gardens. Her Birmingham grandfather and Sussex great-grandmother were wonderful story-tellers, and Sandra began to follow in their footsteps while still at school, when she had stories and poems published in 'Young Elizabethan'. Sandra now has three adult children, and lives with her husband in Southampton. She is a lecturer at Southampton Univeristy.

The illustrator: Ken Brown studied illustration at Birmingham Art College. He moved to London to work as an art director which was followed by a period working at the BBC as a graphic designer. From there he joined a production company secialising in computer graphics, animation and live action. Ken is married with 2 sons.
