The Stencilled Home: 13 Themed Room Styles by Helen Morris

Each chapter focuses on one of the 13 themed rooms, from the sumptuous red and gold warmth of the Arabian Nights Bedroom, the cooler navy-blue Nautical Bathroom with its mural compass of gold, to the soft Grecian Hallway with its repeating anthemion motif and the sophisticated color scheme of muted grays and creams. Each room includes a description of its stencil elements, color photographs of the interior, a step-by-step project sequence exploring an individual stencilling technique and a stencil pack to trace straight from the page. Whether you decide to use the colors and designs from the rooms displayed, or choose to adapt them to your own preferred scheme, The Stencilled Home will prove an invaluable source of design ideas and a practical guide to enhancing your home with unparalleled style.

HELEN MORRIS started The Stencil Library in 1988 after noticing a void in the home-decorating market for the stencils that her graphic designer husband Michael Chippendale created and utilized in his work. Since its inception, The Stencil Library has amassed an outstanding database of over 4,000 stencil designs, representing a diverse spectrum of global, historical, and contemporary decorative styles. To keep up with consumer demand, the company continues to innovate and create new collections on a regular basis. It also creates custom designs and has created cut stencils for kings, politicians, and celebrities. Helen and Michael run their company from Stocksfield Hall in Northumberland, England, where they live.

The house, which is frequently featured in magazines and on television as a showcase for their work, is open to the public once a month. Helen is well known as an authority on the subject and is in regular demand for talks and demonstrations in Europe and America. The Stencil Library blog (www.designinspiration.typepad.com) was started in 2007 to provide inspiration and information about stencil-related decoration, as well as the more photogenic parts of life at The Stencil Library. Her second novel is a sequel to her first.
